Axial, induced pseudoscalar, and pion-nucleon form factors in manifestly Lorentz-invariant chiral perturbation theory

We calculate the nucleon form factors G_A and G_P of the isovector axial-vector current and the pion-nucleon form factor G_piN in manifestly Lorentz-invariant baryon chiral perturbation theory up to and including order O(p^4). In addition to the standard treatment including the nucleon and pions, we also consider the axial-vector meson a_1 as an explicit degree of freedom. This is achieved by using the reformulated infrared renormalization scheme. We find that the inclusion of the axial-vector meson effectively results in one additional low-energy coupling constant that we determine by a fit to the data for G_A. Abstract This paper describes the calculation of the electromagnetic form factor of the K 0 meson at order p 6 of chiral perturbation theory which is the next-to-leading order correction to the well-known p 4 result achieved by Gasser and Leutwyler. On the one hand, at order p 6 the chiral expansion contains 1- and 2-loop diagrams which are discussed in detail. Especially, a numerical procedure for calculating the irreducible 2-loop graphs of the sunset topology is presented. On the other hand, the chiral Lagrangian L (6) produces a direct coupling of the K 0 current with the electromagnetic field tensor. Relativistic corrections in quasi-free electro-disintegration of the deuteron

The role of relativistic effects in deuteron break-up by electrons is investigated for quasi-free kinematics by including the lowest-order relativistic corrections beyond the nonrelativistic limit to electromagnetic operators and by wave-function boost. In particular, the dependence of form factors and structure functions on the frame in which they are calculated is studied. It is found that the inclusion of these corrections leads to observables that are less frame-dependent than for a pure nonrelativistic description. Measurement of the neutrino neutral-current elastic differential cross section on mineral oil atEν∼1 GeV

We report a measurement of the flux-averaged neutral-current elastic differential cross section for neutrinos scattering on mineral oil (CH{sub 2}) as a function of four-momentum transferred squared, Q{sup 2}. It is obtained by measuring the kinematics of recoiling nucleons with kinetic energy greater than 50 MeV which are readily detected in MiniBooNE. This differential cross-section distribution is fit with fixed nucleon form factors apart from an axial mass M{sub A} that provides a best fit for M{sub A}=1.39{+-}0.11 GeV. The discrepancy between the proton charge radius extracted from the muonic hydrogen Lamb shift measurement and the best present value obtained from the elastic scattering experiments, remains unexplained and represents a burning problem of today’s nuclear physics. In a pursuit of reconciling the puzzle an experiment is underway at MAMI, which exploits the radiative tail of the elastic peak to study the properties of electromagnetic processes and to extract the proton charge form factor $ \left( {\mathop G\nolimits_E^p } \right) $ at extremely small Q2. Measurements ofB→{π,η,η′}lνlBranching Fractions and Determination of|Vub|with Semileptonically TaggedBMesons

We report measurements of branching fractions for the decays B-->Plnu_{l}, where P are the pseudoscalar charmless mesons pi;{-}, pi;{0}, eta and eta;{'}, based on 348 fb;{-1} of data collected with the BABAR detector, using B0 and B+ mesons found in the recoil of a second B meson decaying as B-->D;{(*)}lnu_{l}. Assuming isospin symmetry, we combine pionic branching fractions to obtain B(B;{0}-->pi;{-}l;{+}nu_{l})=(1.54+/-0.17_{(stat)}+/-0.09_{(syst)})x10;{-4}; we find 3.2sigma evidence of the decay B;{+}-->etal;{+}nu_{l} and measure its branching fraction to be (0.64+/-0.20_{(stat)}+/-0.03_{(syst)})x10;{-4}, and determine B(B;{+}-->eta;{'}l;{+}nu_{l})<0.47x10;{-4} to 90% confidence level. Breakdown of the expansion of finite-size corrections to the hydrogen Lamb shift in moments of charge distribution

We quantify a limitation in the usual accounting of the finite-size effects, where the leading $[(Z\alpha)^4]$ and subleading $[(Z\alpha)^5]$ contributions to the Lamb shift are given by the mean-square radius and the third Zemach moment of the charge distribution. In the presence of any non-smooth behaviour of the nuclear form factor at scales comparable to the inverse Bohr radius, the expansion of the Lamb shift in the moments breaks down. This is relevant for some of the explanations of the "proton size puzzle". We find, for instance, that the de R\'ujula toy model of the proton form factor does not resolve the puzzle as claimed, despite the large value of the third Zemach moment. Withou…
Phenomenological applications of rational approximants

We illustrate the powerfulness of Padé approximants (PAs) as a summation method and explore one of their extensions, the so-called quadratic approximant (QAs), to access both space- and (low-energy) time-like (TL) regions. As an introductory and pedagogical exercise, the function [Formula: see text] is approximated by both kind of approximants. Then, PAs are applied to predict pseudoscalar meson Dalitz decays and to extract [Formula: see text] from the semileptonic [Formula: see text] decays. Finally, the [Formula: see text] vector form factor in the TL region is explored using QAs.
Couplings in coupled channels versus wave functions: Application to theX(3872)resonance

We perform an analytical study of the scattering matrix and bound states in problems with many physical coupled channels. We establish the relationship of the couplings of the states to the different channels, obtained from the residues of the scattering matrix at the poles, with the wave functions for the different channels. The couplings basically reflect the value of the wave functions around the origin in coordinate space.
